Princess Daisy | Judith Krantz

Princess Daisy Paperback CoverJudith Krantz is one of those authors who can transform an endearing moment of life, lust and adversity into panache and refine glamour. She and non other can make her characters and readers developed strength with nobility and courage as each page were flipped through an intimate attraction and pure vivid imagination. She has established all these and more as she stripped off the amazing tale of Princess Marguerite Alexandrovna Valensky which will be known to everyone as Princess Daisy.

I had a huge collection of Judith Krantz’ paperbacks and Princess Daisy was the first ever book I’ve bought and read among her novels. I am not much interested on the summary written at the back of the book but I have always the interest to read books about noble men, aristocrats and the likes way back then. Thus, I knew I’d be inspired and remain thrilled at how they deal with life’s unfortunate struggles when it strikes them. Yet, Princess Daisy dares not tried to crush my expectations.

Princess Daisy’s tale unfolds when Francesca Vernon, a Hollywood renowned actress visits Europe for a grand tour with her agent and his wife. She was invited to present the cup to the winner of the Polo finals. Back then, the Mayor understood perfectly clear that Francesca’s participation on the event will make it explicitly special than a mere sporting event. On the other hand, a prominent playboy, wealthy and gracious aristocrat named Prince Alexander “Stash” Valensky is one of the Polo players who will soon be involved with the eternally beautiful and lovely Francesca Vernon.

The two were married and bore a child named Princess Marguerite Alexandrovna Valensky. She was healthy, lively and unquestionably beautiful, having been able to inherit the flawless features of her parents. She was the only child of Princess Fancesca Valensky and Prince Stash Valensky, at least that’s how the world was told. But for the family, Princess Daisy was not born alone; she has a twin sister named Danielle.

Dani was separated from Fancesca and Daisy, after she was born. She was small and weak. She barely survived as a child. Stash was never happy to see Danielle in all that condition. She was diagnosed as retarded and by no means could appear normal before the eyes of the norms. Stash immediately get rid of her and brought her to a foster home, specially taken cared of with all his influence and wealth. Thus, the entire household was informed the death of Princess Danielle, few days after she and Princess Daisy was born.

It wasn’t long enough when Francesca found the whereabouts of her little Dani. She then took the courage to leave her husband and brought Dani and Daisy back to America with her. She was able to brought up the kids all by herself, the best way she could. They lived in a secluded place which no Stash could ever come and get them. She works hard to feed them by collecting driftwood along the beaches, polished and delivers them to a craftsman on a nearby town.

One day, Stash heard the news that Francesca met a car accident, she was dead and the kids needed him for all particular reason. Stash loves Daisy above anything else; he then took this chance to get a hold of his precious child. He brought Daisy and Dani back to London. Daisy lives with him while Dani stays in a foster home, just like the setup they had before when the twins are still babies.

Growing up, Princess Daisy continually visits her sister Princess Dani on her foster home. Stash was also able to introduced Daisy to her half brother named Ram, whom was Stash only son on his first unsuccessful marriage. Ram despises Daisy, he dislike the fact that his father is giving her too much attention more than his; Daisy, the apple of his father’s eyes. But despite all these reactions he gets from Ram, she loves him… she adores every bit of him.

Prince Stash Valensky later then met Death himself on a one fine Sunday afternoon. Leaving Daisy and Ram under the care of his beloved mistress, Anabel. There were no words that describe the relationship between Stash and Anabel but she’s beyond doubt Stash dearest confidante. She took care of Daisy and Ram in the absence of their parents. But there are things that are beyond her control. Ram develops a huge obsession on Princess Daisy. He actually was able to rape his own flesh and blood. Anabel is weak and old, while Ram is strong and powerful; the only thing she could do is sent Daisy away.

It was painful, hurting and horrifying… Princess Daisy fled to America. Thus, began to unravel the real world without a hint of aristocratic figure in her. She was away from all those noble and fallacious world. With her difficulties and hurdles, there’s always Dani whom is left for her to continue on living, persevere and win over adversities.

Breaking Dawn

Romeo and Juliet – William Shakespeare

"Read o'er the volume of young Paris' face, And find delight writ there with beauty's pen. Examine every married lineament, And see how one another lends content, And what obscured in this fair volume lies Find written in the margin of his eyes. This precious book of love, this unbound lover, To beautify him, only lacks a cover. The fish lives in the sea, and 'tis much pride For fair without the fair within to hide. That book in many's eyes doth share the glory That in golden clasps locks in the story. So shall you share all that he doth possess, By having him making yourself no less."
